Wow, who knew taking care of your hair could be so
complicated! Anyways, as you have probably noticed, many of the articles in the
Times have been on hair and proper hair care. Many of you might not care
that much about your hair, but others, like me, take pride in their hair.
I'm lucky, some might say. I have straight shiny soft hair that comes naturally.
I don't have to use straightening irons or other sraightining products on my
hair. Many of those products contain chemicals that are very bad for your hair
and dry it out, leaving it brittle and dull.
A lot of you probably don't care; you just want straight hair! Well, I would
think again if I were you before starting that straightening iron or whipping out
a bottle of 'frizz ease' or something. I'm going to give you a few tips that I
read on using a flat iron on your hair.
First, be very careful using the iron! Make sure your hair is fully dry, because wet
hair is more delicate than dry hair. Ready? Here we go.... First, clamp the heated
end on on a two-inch section of hair and slide the straightener from the roots
to the ends. Keep the iron moving the entire time -- a five-inch long section of
hair should take about five seconds to do. Finally, spritz your hair with a
shine spray so hair is 'frizz-free' all day.
I hope I helped a little. And make sure that if you do use a flat iron
to use a moisturizing shampoo to keep your hair fresh, soft, and shiny!
