Hey! Smurfette here! I have been so busy lately and it seems like forever since I've written an article. So here goes!

At my school, we've been talking about bullying lately. Many people won't admit it, but everyone has probably been bullied or been a bully at one point in their lives. Sadly, many people don't even understand what bullying is. Bullying doesn't mean that someone is beating up someone else or stealing his or her lunch money. It simply means when one or more people hurt other people mentally, verbally, or physically. Many will also claim that they are just ???Joking??? around, but think about it. When people abuse you like that, how do you feel? When your friends make fun of you, it hurts. Even if they are "just joking around". No one likes being hurt, and many people need to realize what they are doing -- they need to realize it is wrong.

At my school, we have started wearing white or green ribbons (our school colors). Wearing the ribbons symbolizes that you are part of the solution, and basically that you pledge not to bully people. The ribbon shows that people can befriend you, and trust you. If you see someone wearing a ribbon, and then they are bullying someone, you have the right to tell them to take it off.

I've decided that this is an awesome idea, and I would like to bring it into Whyville. I will be designing ribbons for people to wear if they want, but I need suggestions for colors, because I want everyone to have a voice in this. Also let me know if you have a different idea.

I think this will really help newbies out as well, because it will show them who really does care.

Let me know if you support this idea!

Thanks for your time,

Smurfette
