Holla, Holla. (Does little head action.) The Canadian icicle, Giggler01 here, to
talk about... les cheveux! For all you wee, non-French speaking French laddies
and lasses, that's hair!
I really hope that you've been following Jill20's "Hair Experiment" series. Why?
Because it's interesting, and lately I haven't been able to say that about many
articles. Sorry, everyone. And now I'm gonna ask one very important thing of you:
don't believe everything you read!
Let's look at Jill's first article. She says that not washing your hair can make
it look healthier. That's incorrect, I believe. It should be: When she doesn't wash her
hair everyday, it looks healthier. Why? Because individual results may vary. I couldn't do what she did. I
am supposed to wash my hair everyday, because my scalp is naturally oily. If I don't wash my hair every
day, I become your typical teenage greaseball.
On to the second article! Not everybody has wavy or curly hair. Hair texture is different in EVERY human
being. Mine has a lot of volume, but not a whole lot of texture. Have you ever noticed how African
people's hair has a different texture than many Caucasian people? It has to be washed and cut in entirely
different ways. In fact, hairdressers must have special training before cutting a black person's hair.
This problem is not restricted to shampoo, either. Gels and hairsprays can cause oily scalps and acne in
many teens. It's important to buy products that are good for your skin and hair, and many hair dressers
sell the products that they use. These are usually safe bets for quality.
And finally, which shampoo? I was a little disappointed in this third article. Not very many people know
about the exact ingredients in shampoo, especially the common, inexpensive shampoos you find in a
drugstore or at a mass retailer. A good example? Herbal Essences. Jill20 was saying that this was a great
shampoo, but according to my research, many people shouldn't use it! It contains a wax which helps seal
nutrients into your hair. That can be a good thing, but it also weighs your hair down, which can make it
unmanageable.
I completely understand what Jill20 is seeking to discover, but I have to disagree with some of her
conclusions. Hair varies so much from person to person, family to family, you just can't totally rely on a
friend's advice! If you'd really like great looking hair, ask your hair dresser the three
following questions:
1. How often should I wash my hair?
2. What shampoo should I be using?
3. Are there any particular hair care products I should use, and how much of
each?
Anyway, I hope I helped your hair! It was a pleasure to be hair... erg... here to
inform you about your scalp!
