Remember Anne Frank? She was smart. She journaled during war. I believe this
is an excellent idea for all of you, Whyville! Get your thoughts out. Get the
stress out of you and onto a piece of paper. I've always journaled my whole
life, but I think now is the most important time to do this.
Please write in a journal tonight. Maybe just a paragraph. Still, it will help. When you're
done writing, you will feel lighter. I know this sounds weird, but it is true. You will feel more relaxed.
Also, journaling helps you get to know yourself. It took me a lot of journaling
to sort out my opinions of the war. It may help yours. Watch the news and
journal about it. Read the paper and journal about it. Have a family
discussion, and, you guessed it, journal about it.
But don't forget, you can journal about other things besides the war. I actually
strongly encourage you to do both. That way, the journal won't always be so sad,
and you can have upbeat things about your life in it. Anne Frank had stuff about
her life and the war. And her journal got published!
Hope I Helped,

Editor's Note: The Times will continue to publish journal-type pieces as well as
journalistic reports on the U.S. troops in Iraq -- sharing your feelings with others is
equal in importance to sharing knowledge, don't you think? We look forward to your submissions....
