Hey, it's Pinkppls here yet again!

Recently we had a guest at our school who especially came to my class to tell us about solar power and all the other sources for energy that we take for granted. We don't realize what it takes to do things like turn a light on or wash our clothes or go on Whyville for an hour -- we all use power. Most of us will use un-reusable power sources, such as oil and coal. Because these things pollute and will eventually be used up, we need to make sure that we try to use as little of them as we possibly can; so, make sure:

  1. When you leave a room with no-one else in there turn the light off.
  2. Turn the TV. off when your finished with it.
  3. Don't leave the computer on all night downloading something.
  4. Buy rechargeable batteries rather than normal ones.
  5. And if possible, ask your mum and dad whether you can buy energy-safe light bulbs; usually priced around $7.00, they last for 4-5 years rather than a normal bulb, which will last normally about 6 months to one year.
  6. Also, see if you can buy solar powered battery recharging panels.
  7. And if you see someone turning a light on and off, tell them that when we run out of oil and coal that they'll be partly to blame!

Also, schools run a lot of power, too, by leaving their computers running all day and all those lights! Ask your teachers or principal if you can cut down the power usage by turning off the lights in the classrooms during lunch hours, and suggest that maybe we should spend more classes outside with nature and natural sunlight. That will get us outside and cut down the bill for your schools so they can buy more important stuff like sports equipment... etc.

See ya!

Author's Note: Thanks for reading and I hope I at least got through to 1 person. If I have, please ymail me and tell me what you suggest we can also do to conserve energy!
