Express Yourself
Vote on favorite, wierdest, ugliest houses and rooms

Since I'm such a friendly, highly-opinionated sort of guy, I take it upon myself to be the reporter to bring to you, my friendly, highly-opinionated readers, the most important issues of the day here in Whyville. In the past I've written about such vital topics as how to pick your nose, how to design your potato patch (that is, your living room), and figuring out the clams in your wallet. Thrilling stuff!

And now, I come to you with a topic no less important, no less thrilling -- I even postponed my vacation to the tropics of Venus (okay, okay, Florida... it's almost the same thing!) in order to get this article to you as soon as possible. It's about your opinion. It's about your right to vote!

Yes, now the citizens of Whyville can vote on our favorite houses and rooms in Myville!

I urge you to take a trip to Myville and visit some of your neighbors' homes. Experience each room, each home, each carefully -- or carelessly -- placed brick and piece of furniture. Get to know your neighborhood! And then vote, and vote joyfully!

How do you vote, you ask? Of course you ask, this is Bigfoot here, the man with all the answers! (Or at least a dozen or so of the answers, anyways.)

From the Myville walk-through you can get to the viewscreen for each house, room, and door by clicking on the "Go In!" button. Once you're at the viewscreen, you'll see there is a column on the right with information about who owns the place (shows his or her face and his or her name); what you're looking at (Outside, Room 1, or Door); and now has a button that says, "Vote!"

Click on that button while you're looking at the outside to vote on the house itself; click on the button while viewing the room to vote on the interior decoration of the place. If you click on "Vote!" while viewing the door, you'll end up voting on the house itself even though you can't see the house.

Clicking on the button will pop up a new window. This window will say "Vote!" at the top and then "I think this room (or house) is..." and will give you three selections. Pick one and then write a note in the Comments box about why you voted the way you did; maybe you like messes, and can't stand artsiness. Or maybe you love simplicity, and that guy with just the one brick on his lawn somehow captures the true essense of human life to you. Then again, maybe that's just wierd. Whatever you think, you can finish your vote by clicking on the Submit button. And if that house wins, your comment may get published here in the Times!

Keep in mind, you can only vote for one house in the same way. That means, you can only have one favorite house, one wierd house, and one ugly house. You won't be warned when you're switching votes, so be careful! And voting over and over for a single place won't count, so don't bother with the ballot-stuffing.

And that's it! Go out there and express yourself! In a week or two, we'll be having Beauty Contests, too!

Oh, and one last suggestion -- vote Bigfoot! :)

From the voting booth of Bigfoot Country, this is Bigfoot Bill, wishing you wise opinions and strong ideals!

To keep things simple, here's a brief list of what to do and how to do it:
  1. Go to Myville.
  2. Visit anybody's house.
  3. To vote for the house itself, while looking at the outside of their house, click on the Vote! button. To vote for the room, use the menu to go to the room screen, then click on the Vote! button.
  4. Select your type of vote from the pop-up screen, then click on the Submit button.
  5. You can vote on one house for each type of vote; it can be the same house for all three, and the same room, but you can't vote for two or more for one type.
