From the depths of the never-ending stack of mail, it is I
again, with a selection of spicy yet informative information for you. I have
been reading some of your mail and responding as fast as I can, and it seems
that one concept ???- one trick of the trade -??? has become a question for many of
you.
I am a Y-Helper, and I have been for quite some time. I will read and respond to
many of your questions concerning clams, games, and other Whyville-related
topics. Many of you have Y-Helper questions... and therefore, I have composed this
article to please your questioning minds.
What does a Y-Helper do? Do they get any special attention?
Y-Helpers are knowledgeable citizens who have volunteered their time and efforts
to answer citizen's questions, assist them with games and earning a salary, and
just being a friend! None of the Y-Helpers get special attention ???- I think that
is a well known mistruth. Many people believe that we get paid, but we do not.
If anything, we give away more clams to help other people. It is a difficult job
that should never be taken lightly -??? especially if you are in it for the so
called "status" and not for the general well-being of other citizens.
Who are the Y-Helpers and how can I access them?
Y-Helpers are citizens ranging from famous Times Writers, Whyville veterans, and
avid designers. This is a very diverse group of citizens, from various age
groups and genders, who have come together for one purpose: to help. Before the
new mailing system came about, Y-Helpers could be reached from your very own
mailbox! That is right, they had a special place in your address book. Now, they
can be reached if you reply to a letter sent to you by City Hall. If you are
fined, reported, or aware of a party you are hosting, your reply will come to
us! Now that the new mailing system has come about, if you are not familiar with
a Y-Helper already, then you have to go searching. Y-Helpers and other
recognized citizens, such as City Workers and the Safety Patrol Team, have a
special Whyville logo on their City Records ???- informing you that they can help!
(Editor's Note: Hopefully they will be easier to find in the future.)
How can I become a Y-Helper?
In order to become a Y-Mail Helper yourself, you have to fit certain
requirements. When someone sends me a message, I will go and research his or her
City Records to find out if he or she is eligible to become a helper. In order
to be eligible, you must have a salary of at least 60 clams a day, been a
citizen of Whyville for at least 3 months or more, and pass a test that is given
to you by City Hall. Why do you have to fit all of these requirements? Well,
this is to ensure that you are able to play the games, have been on Whyville
enough to earn a reasonable salary, and therefore, can help citizens with their
questions. If you are interested, e-mail City Management at city-management@whyville.net.
Be patient, because you might not get a response right away, and there is a
chance that you might be rejected. Whyville does have a lot of helpers at this
moment... so keep that in mind.
I imagine this has helped somewhat, but if I haven't answered some of your
questions, don't fret! I will be back with a second addition onto this article.
There is so much that I have to explain that I cannot fit it into one piece of
writing. Nevertheless, I am up for any journalistic endeavor!
Fighter,
-TIKE
