Hi, it's Teen12 here to talk about "drugs". Drugs are
something that most teens have to think about -- whether to take drugs or forget
about them. If you ask me, probably everyone goes through this problem in high
school.
There are many things that could happen if you do drugs, like:
- End up in the hospital with lung, heart, and/or throat problems.
- Doings stupid, dangerous things because you're high off the drugs, and maybe
hurt yourself and people you care about.
- 80% of people (or more) die each year because of drugs.
- They kill your cells in your brain, which make you forget about school, work,
or anything...
Some people in high schools will tell you that "Drugs are good," "They can't
kill you," and "If they could, why would they sell it?" If you think about it,
though, drugs aren't good. They *can* kill you, and people sell them for the
money, often to buy more drugs. With just those little statements, people try to
get someone 13-19 years old to do drugs. You can tune them in to the true facts.
- Why do people do something that could kill them? Because people think it's
cool, and that they have a chance of being "popular".
- Why do mostly "popular" people do it? Because they think it's cool and
probably never paid attention in health class, or even thought about what could
happen.
If someone offered you a joint, weed, or anything that is a "drug", would you
take it? I am hoping that this little message helps you decide that you
shouldn't take it. Please, say no to drugs and yes to Life!!
Well, that is all I have to say on drugs. I really hope I made you think.
Teen12 is now signing off! Bye-bye, amigos.
Editor's Note: I certainly agree that doing drugs is a bad idea, but
where did you get some of your statistics, Teen12? Being able to prove your
facts may make the difference between people believing you and shrugging you
aside! (Not to mention, when I was in high school, there was no way to tell who
would do drugs or wouldn't based on a person's "popularity"... be careful with
generalizations, life is more complicated than that!)
