A long time ago on a now sunken island, there lived a peaceful folk: the elves. They lived on an island called Atlantis.

Snapestria was an elf. She had long flowing pink hair and was a quick thinker. Like her father Abnem, Snapestria was more of a fighter than a spellcaster or a peace-keeper. Abnem went to a war with the male elves against the Harpies.

Snapestria lived with her mother now. Her mothers' name was Solaroe. Other female elves lived on Atlantis too.

Since all the vulnerable female elves were left on Atlantis while the men fought the Harpies, an evil dragon named Draconi came to live in the core of the island and would at times make the earth shake. This terrorized the elves and disturbed their slumber. Being the fighter that she is, Snapestria decided to slay the dragon and stop the terror that had been unleashed on Atlantis.

"Mother! I hast to slay the dragon! It is my destiny!" Snapestria told Solaroe one morning. (Mind you, this conversation is told in fairly Olde English.)

"Thou shall not go!" her mother objected, just before Snapestria could turn around and run.

"What dost thou mean?" Snapestria asked, as she slowly turned around.

"Come hither," Solaroe replied. Sadly, Snapestria followed her mother between ivory stone columns and up fair rosewood steps, and then entered into an empty room. The room was empty except for a fairly small chest decorated with rare gems.

As Solaroe opened the chest, Snapestrias' eyes glowed with excitement. There inside the chest was a steel sword with a silver handle. On the handle there was an iron dragon, which was coiled around the grip. It was very detailed.

Then her mother spoke, "This sword was thy fathers'," Solaroe paused, "And I want thou to have it."

"Thank you!!!" Snapestria could barely get those words out of her mouth, she was just about to cry with happiness. She hugged her mother and ran like the wind, down the fair rosewood steps, through the ivory stone columns, running past a flock of birds, and weaving herself through elven passageways and buildings. Then finally reaching the core of Atlantis. There Draconi was waiting, patiently waiting for Snapestria....

The foul smell of Draconis' breath made Snapestria weezy when he spoke.

"Foolish mortal...!" Draconi flared his piercing yellow eyes.

"I am not scared of you!" Snapestria yelled fearlessly at the dragon.

"Thou shalt feel fear!" Just then, Draconi emerged from the shadows. His scales were tinted silver and would glisten in the small patches of light. He roared a blasting one, and tried to strike Snapestria. Fortunately for her, Snapestria dodged the blow.

Draconi hit the stone cave wall. While he was recovering, Snapestria summoned her sword with a magic spell. With the sword in two hands Snapestria struck the beast in the right wing. It didn't stun Draconi, Snapestria froze.

"Uh oh...." she whispered. And SNAP! Draconi gulped her down and crawled back into the shadows.

Later, after the news spread about Snapestrias' awful defeat, Solaroe and some other elves created a flower in Snapestrias' bravery. They called it the Snapdragon, and it was as pink as Snapestrias' hair.

Eventually, the war ended between the elves and the harpies. Draconi shook Atlantis so hard that one day, it sunk. Long afterwards, the Snapdragon flourished between the lands and Snapestria was never forgotten.

Author's Note: I made this story for a class project. It's not real, but a fictional myth... that I got an A on. I hope you enjoyed the story.
