This is label, reporting to you about a theory I have
created. My theory is based upon watching and learning, as well as performing a
little project.
For this project, I first dressed up as a common Whyville citizen. I used all
the 'hip' new face parts created by our top designers and set out to see if
people would be nice to me. My hypothesis was correct -- they were. People
noticed me, talked to me, I even got asked out a thousand times by people I
hadn't met before.
My next task was to dress different, unique, or goofy. So I put on older face
parts (which I like more) and set out to do the same thing as before. I walked
into the playground and nobody noticed me, talked to me, or asked me out. Yet
again, my hypothesis was correct. The sad thing was that I even knew 3 people in
that room, and even they didn't notice or talk to me.
Concluding both tests, my hypothesis was correct for each. Which brings me to my
theory. My theory is, if you look cool with all the new parts and you look like
a real life person, people will acknowledge you, but if you wear goofy parts and
try to look different, it's like you're invisible.
Whyville isn't real life so I am still pondering why people try to make their
faces look so real. Don't get me wrong, the designers that try to do this are
awesome at it, but why? Why look the same, when you can be different? I say have
fun with it, look goofy, dare to be unique. The only one that can judge you is
you, do it for you and no one else. Don't "dress to impress".
