Hi again! This is Angel7990, here talking about a problem
that has been around since Whyville can remember. I'm talking about the
oldie-newbie "crisis".
I know EVERYONE has dealt with this before. It is probably the most common
problem in Whyville. It seems like newbies and oldies are constantly in a grudge
fight, and neither side is winning.
Oldies are complaining about newbies coming in and crowding Whyville, or making
fun of the really new newbies who can't talk or making fun of how a newbie
looks. On the other hand, the newbies are complaining that the oldbies are mean
to them and won't give them face parts or clams and they can't do anything that
the oldbies can because they don't know how. Can you see the problem yet? Why is
Whyville like this?
If you're asking what side I support, I say I don't support either side. I've
been in Whyville for over 1 year so I know how to find my way around town, even
if I stopped visiting for a bit. The point is, I'm back and I'm an oldie. I have
a salary I'm happy with, a great variety of face parts, and I'm gathering bricks
for the day I get a plot. However, I have two other screen names that are
newbies. I even have one that can't talk yet. Both are working hard to get a
salary and some friends.
The problem I have with newbies is their begging problem. You've heard me
mention this in many other articles, and that's because I really feel strongly
against it. Besides the fact that it irritates us oldies like crazy, it is the
perfect way for a hacker to get into a newbie's account.
The problem with oldies is most of them don't give newbies a chance. The minute
they see a newbie they automatically think they're a beggar and ignore them, or
whisper just to be rude to those who can't talk. Also, very few oldies donate to
Granny or give face parts to newbies who really need it or give any advice to
newbies. They just leave newbies in the dark.
I think newbies need to stop begging and oldies need to be more giving. It will
make it a lot easier for both sides.
This is Angel7990, signing off.
