I know I said that I was going to quit, but a few of my
friends really helped me through this, and I just can't leave them, so I'm
staying for now. Now, on to my issue at hand...
Tanning. How can a 7 letter word be so great and harmful at the same time? Great
in the aspect of beauty (in my opinion). Tan equals gorgeous, in our society.
But does dead equal gorgeous? Does cancerous equal gorgeous? I think not!
Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in Americans age 13-30. The
numbers have risen alarmingly in the past decade, coinciding with the increase
in popularity of tanning salons.
There are two types of tanning, and while neither type of
tanning is good for your health, fake baking is worse. When you tan, you get a
light shone on you. You get hot, you sweat, and bacteria from you gets on the
tanning bed. When you're done, the next person gets in, and lays in your filth.
You laid in the filth of someone before you. Personally, I find that just gross.
Editor's Note: I think that tanning salons are required to sterilize
the beds before new people get on... maybe I'm wrong?
After reading this, you may not want to go tanning much. But you still want to
look tan. This is where the sunless tanner steps in. It used to be that sunless
tanning made you look orange, not tan at all. But now they have perfected it so
that you can't tell if the tan is real or not. I think this a great alternative
to skin cancer. Here are the steps in applying sunless tanner.
1) Take a shower, to rinse off dirt, oils, and general filthiness.
2) Wait till the end of your shower to shave your legs, so they're ready for
tanning.
3) Exfoliate your body everywhere except legs (they were exfoliated when you
shaved)
4) Slather on a light lotion or moisturizer to prep your skin for the tanning
lotion.
5) Apply the bronzer to your palm, then work your way up your body, starting at
your feet. When applying, keep your fingers together, and wrist lifted, to
prevent smudging.
6) Put it on your face in small amounts. Add if you need to, but DO NOT go
overboard. That could get ugly.
7) Once your entirely done, let it dry by standing around for a few minutes. Do
not sit, because the tanner would rub off.
8) Once your skin is dry to the touch, you can get dressed, and go out and enjoy
your beautiful tan!
Hope this helps to keep you safe this summer!
This is Chica04, going to buy some tanner.
