Hello Whyville! Many of you have told me you read my first three hair experiments, and asked me when my next one should come out. Well, I actually hadn't written a fourth one until now. That's because (yes, this really does happen) I couldn't think of what else I could do to my hair!

Before I begin, I'd like to clear a few things up. Many people have responded by saying my experiments don't work for all hair types. Yes, you're right. It worked for me, but it might not work for you. That's why I tell you my hair type, so you can see if it might work for your hair. Let me tell you again: I have blond, curly hair, an inch below my shoulders. Now, although many people won't have the exact kind of hair I have, I think this experiment can still be tested on all types of hair.

Now, on to the experiment! I stumbled upon this on on accident, really. I was at a sleep over at my cousin's house with a bunch of her friends. The theme was beauty, and we had been doing nails, giving face masks, and making our own perfume all night. My cousin announced that we were going to make our very own hair mixture that was sure to make our hair lighter. What fun!

In the mixture we put in equal proportions of oatmeal, avocado, and coconut milk, in a big bowl. We then dipped combs in it, ran it through our hair several times, and let it sit for twenty minutes. Then we washed with cold water.

The results? At the end, my hair was a lot shinier and healthier. But, it sure didn't get lighter. That doesn't mean it was bad though! I have already done two other times, and each time I love how it makes my hair work. Now, all you are thinking again, "It works for you, but it won't for me." Well, I'm afraid you're wrong now! This is because at the party there were girls with all different types of hair that loved it too. Straight hair, coarse hair, straight hair, brown hair, short hair... etc. So, I'm almost positive this will work for you!

But, I won't end the article just yet. After taking a nap the next afternoon (we stayed up until four), I got to the library and did some research. Why did this work so well? Well, oatmeal is usually used to exfoliate the skin and moisturize it. Oatmeal has emollients that are great with dried out hair because they moisturize and keep in the moisture. Avocado has lots of protein, so that's what made my hair look healthier. The natural chemicals in avocado keep hair smooth and together (no frizzes). Coconut, or coconut oil, also has a lot of protein. It is also one of the richest skin moisturizers, and is great for hair during winter and summer, because that is when hair gets most damaged.

Now, you're probably wondering why we washed with cold water. I wondered, too. Well, if you take a shower with warm water, and at the end make it cold, it locks in the moisture that your conditioner got with the warm water. Now, I always finish my shower with a rinse of cold! It has made my hair a lot more shiny!

I hope you enjoyed that experiment and I can almost guarantee it will work for your hair!

But now, I'm really stuck. Do you have any suggestions about what my next experiment should be about? Because I want to write, but I don't know what to do! Please tell me.

Hope I Helped,
Jill20
