Hi, everyone. My name is Jules88 and I have never written for the Times
before, but in this
week's issue I saw something that I wanted to comment on: the fashion article by
22kool4u. While this
was a very helpful article for those wanting to try out a new look on Whyville,
it made me think.
Fashion
is such an essential part of Whyville -- personally, I spend a lot of time
trying to make myself look unique
but fun at the same time. We have so many stores, so many creators, so many
styles -- you can make
yourself look almost any way you want. This is why, while I was reading
22kool4u's article, I felt I needed to
give her my point of view. If you give a step-by-step guide to dressing like
yourself, isn't the next thing
you will see a bunch of 22kool4u clones? This isn't what we should be wanting.
First off, 22kool4u's "Rules" for the girls. Girls, listen to me. There are
no rules in making your
face, except not to abuse any parts. You can make your face any way you like...
even totally non-human. Personally, I don't go for
the lips-in-the-neck thing. are your lips in your neck in real life? Forgive me
if they are. One of the
reasons why we have Pick-Your-Nose is that we can put our face parts wherever we
wish. If you want
your neck to be long? Go ahead! If you want a big forehead? Go right ahead! If
you see a hair that you like
that nobody else is wearing? GOOD FOR YOU! There is such a variety of parts in Akbar's, you can choose to look however you like!!
On the other hand, I found one particular bit of information
in 22kool4u's article that I did like:
"Now, if you don't want your eyes looking plain, it's good to get contacts and
sleepy eyes. Pick out a few
contacts and look up 'sleep eyes'. Also, if you want more pizzazz in your look,
get some accessories, like
hands, shirt add-ons, hair add-ons, little animals, signs, jewelry...
ANYTHING!!" It is true that you don't have to stick to just a shirt, a hair, and standard
face parts. Some very creative
people have thought to make necklaces, jewelry, flowers, contacts and many other
add-ons. Others have even gone with totally not normal faces. If you are
feeling plain, this is an option that could spice things up.
To give you the bottom line, everyone, all I am saying is look how you want,
and not how
anybody tells you to, even me. You have freedom to wear what you want -- so use it!
Thanks
everyone, and have a
great day.
