Hey! This is wildfire9 here again! Since we got out of school
I've gotten a chance to write more articles so you will here from me more!
*Uses best TV anchor woman voice*
I'm Wildfire9, here, live as the FIRST edition of the Whyville Times is being
read by many Whyvillians!
Okay, so I wasn't there when the first edition came out on July 22,
1999 (or so the
Archives tell me!) but I read the Times all of the time now! I can't believe our
huge paper started with only 5 articles! That's it! Does anyone even remember
the old layout? Wasn't it cool how we could put ads in the corner? I loved
making those little guys! But, times are changing and so is the Times.
Back then it doesn't seem it was being read by many people. Whyville had
very few citizens in 1999. I can
remember in January of 2002, we had only 150,000 members. Imagine how many there
were when they first started! Now Whyville has over 400,000! That's almost
half a million, if you can believe that.
Hmm. Whyville has been
around since 1999. Why did its population more than double in 1 year, when it
only had 150,000 members from 1999-2002? If my calculations are correct (math
is not my best subject!), that's an increase of over 150% in 1 year! Holy
cow!
When I started in the beginning of last year, there wasn't a beach. When we got mail, we had a little red light flash! In the WAAAY beginning,
you got clams for the first time you built a house and 'Picked Your Nose'! How
cool was that?
If you think about the fashion back then when Whyville first began, it was nothing like ours
today. You know the
Premium Parts and Bargain Basement at Akbar's? They were the ONLY face parts there were! I guess
you could say life was better then, because everyone looked the same. No name
calling!
Hopefully you will see more Why-History from me this summer!
Lots of love,
Wildfire9
