'Sup everyone! I just got done reading TIKE's Eat Well and Be Well article, and
at the bottom the Editor said something about how it's dangerous for kids to try
to lose weight before getting to college age. I disagree.
Now, starving yourself isn't good for you no matter how old you are, but trying to limit yourself appropriately and eat more healthy
foods is good for anyone. But remember, that's not the only way to lose weight!
By exercising regularly, your body's metabolism will increase -- for those of who don't know what that is, your metabolism is
basically how much energy
your body uses up every day. So with a raised metabolism, you will begin to burn off
more fat stores that might have you overweight; whether that's a little or a lot
depends. We all don't want to be overweight -- for some kids, that can be a lot
more unhealthy than waiting until college to diet!.
Sorry this is short, but I can't think of anything else to say.
This is jango321 signing out, telling you to be active!
Editor's Note: I'd absolutely love to see more research done on this.
How much does the average American kid weigh? WHY? What's the healthiest way for
a kid to diet? Don't get this info from a teen magazine -- I respect those
folks, but I respect scientific journals more! :-)
