Kirbie393 here. I'm here to tell you about the doshas. What is a dosha? For you to understand it, I will need to explain a few things first.

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medicinal system on maintaining a healthy mind and body. By keeping a balance of five elements (earth, fire, water, air, and ether) in the body, you can achieve this balance. Ayurveda categorizes people into personality types called doshas.

There are three basic doshas -- kapha, vata, and pitta. Each of these doshas can be put together to create another one (kapha-vata, pitta-kapha, vata-pitta).

Many Kaphas are compassionate and patient. Though they do not always learn things as fast as others, they have excellent memories. Kaphas are logical, and tend to think things over, long and hard, before making their wise decisions. Healthy Kapha people often grow to become helpers, such as doctors and teachers, and they are the best kind of friend to have when you're feeling 'out of it'.

Vatas are generally creative and talkative. They tend to question everything, to help paint a picture in their mind. As for learning, they are the exact opposite of the regular Kapha person; they learn quickly but usually forget just as quickly afterwards. Vata people are overachievers, and often take on too much to handle, resulting in bursts of anxiety. A Vata's sparkling creativity shows, and they often become inventors, scientists, and novelists.

Next we have the Pitta people; the most proud of all. In fact, so proud that many people take them to be arrogant. They also tend to be discriminating and judgemental, and have a sense of responsibility. Pittas make great leaders and organizers. When it comes to cash, they often spend on small luxuries. They can be excellent judges, great speakers, and know how to be a good friend. That is, as long as he or she doesn't lose his or her inner sense of morality. According to Ayurvedic principles, that is the worst thing that can happen to a Pitta. Without it, a Pitta can become bigoted.

The Kapha-Vata, Pitta-Kapha, and Vata-Pitta are crosses between each dosha.

Kapha-Vata people tend to be calm, because the steadiness of the Kapha overpowers the nervous tendencies from the Vata. But like the Vata, Kapha-Vatas can be impulsive.

Pitta-Kaphas tend to be steady and fair. They are extremely less prone to anger than pure Pittas, but more temperamental than Kaphas. There can sometimes be a tendency towards the Kapha self-satisfaction and the Pitta pride. Pitta-Kapha people do not generally lash out, but every so often there can be an outburst of Pitta anger.

Vata-Pittas are natural leaders, and are usually very charismatic. When Vata-Pitta people are anxious, moods vary from anger to fear, so doing things to keep calm is the key to maintaining balance.

I have found that I am a Kapha-Pitta. Can you tell which you are?

Kirbie393, over and out.
