Hey, this is Sugarz, I wanted to talk about hair loss and how you can try and prevent it.

Normal cycle of hair growth and loss:

There is almost 10% of hair on your scalp that is always in a resting period. After a couple of months, this resting hair falls out and new hair starts to grow in its place. This growth period lasts for several years. Did you know that each hair piece grows about 1 centimeter during this growth period? It is always a natural thing to shed hair each day, but for some people they shed more hair than the regular amount.

What causes this loss?

There are many ways that you may have this happen. First of all, if you have just had a surgery or an illness, you may lose a large quantity of hair after that. This is just from the stress you may have had; don't worry it doesn't last long! it's only temporary.

Hormonal problems also cause hair loss. This is often caused by your thyroid gland being underactive or maybe overactive. What is a thyroid gland? Thyroid glands are found in all vertebrates -- they produce various hormones. Do you know what hormones are? A hormone is a substance like a steroid or peptide, that is produced by your body's tissue and is transported by a blood stream to another part of your body. This affects physiological activity, like growth and metabolism. Well, by re-establishing your hormonal balance, you can stop your hair loss.

Some medicines also cause hair loss, for instance, if you are taking a blood thinner, medicines used for gout, and chemotherapy ( used to treat cancer). If you take too much vitamin A, you can also lose hair. Antidepressants can also cause hair loss. If you are experiencing hair loss and none of the above suit you, you need to go to your doctor and ask why this is happening. It is said that hair loss may be an early sign for a coming disease. This isn't to scare anyone!

Improper care of your hair does cause hair loss as well.

Hair loss can be caused if you don't take care of your hair properly. For instance, if you wear tight pigtails, have corn rows, or put your hair in curlers, you are pulling your hair. When this causes hair loss, it is called traction alopecia. Your hair will grow back normally if this styling is stopped soon, but if it is not, it can cause permanent hair loss. Also, by using chemicals on your hair, you can be causing problems as well.

Well, I'm done! I hope you guys watch out for your hair! :D
This is sugarz, warning!
