A few days ago I took the bus down to the Pool Party. When I got there, I saw something new (not a good thing, in my opinion) -- it wasn't a beauty contest, or someone asking for a boyfriend or girlfriend. It was someone advertising for a prom. I immediately knew it wasn't a real one that Whyville throws officially sometimes, it would be in the Times!

They said it was at the Platz, my usual hangout, so I tried to get there, but something wouldn't let me in. Why? It had too many people inside it. Whoa, that prom must be a real success! When I kept trying and finally got in, it was so crowded I could hardly breathe... and the Platz is one of the larger hangouts in Whyville!

What I have to say about these informal proms is that they shouldn't be happening. Sure, it might be a little bit of fun now. But after a while, if they keep happening daily like they are, they won't be as fun! What about Whyville's real prom thrown by City Hall each year? Will people care to go? It's the same thing, but with contests, which will probably be included in these little ones before long.

What has become of this town? Most newbies hate oldbies, most oldbies hate newbies. People making fun of what people look like, people asking for relationships. And now, random proms thrown whenever people like. ARGHHH!!!

This is LilCas, signing off.

Editor's Note: Are these proms really such a bad thing? Isn't it nice to see citizens organizing on their own? Yeah, maybe there are better activities to organize, but as they say, it starts from a single seed....
