Hi people -- tranner here -- well, duh! LoL!

As you all probably know we have just had Remembrance Day and children in need is coming up. I wanted to point out the importance of these two dates. In my English lessons lately we have been focusing our entire study time on thinking about and remembering those who died for our country. We recently read a poem called 'Dulce et Decorum Est', which basically means how sweet and fitting it is, in Latin, of course. This was a very vivid poem and it inspired me to read more of these type of poems. It gives the reader, in horrific detail, the scenes that he (Wilfred Owen) went through. He was situated out of England, fighting on the front. He then got injured and was brought back to England to recover, and even though he was told not to return, he insisted that he return to the front to fight for our country.

He explains in his poem that not only those that died should be noticed. There were hundreds, thousands, that died for our country, but not only did they suffer, but the people who were fighting alongside them were haunted for the rest of their lives. And not only they, but the families of both the dead and the surviving suffered. I don't think I could imagine a terrible thing like that happening to any one of my family members or friends. I wouldn't be able to imagine life without them.

While on this subject, I was just wondering, did any of you buy poppies? I certainly did, and I wandered around with it proudly on my coat, and another on my school-shirt. Poppies are a symbol of Remembrance Day, for those of you who don't know.

This brings me back to my other subject: my school's 'Children in Need' event. Our school held a non-uniform day at a pound per person, hopefully raising as much money as possible. Me and my friends planned to do something for it, too (as I wrote this, we didn't know what we'd be doing yet). Did any of you buy the little Pudsey badge? I have quite a collection of them in my drawer now!

I just wanted to get my point across about two of my most important dates on the calendar. Thank you for reading; hopefully you're not all asleep by now. *crosses fingers*
