One day
recently, I was looking at back issues of The Times, and I found a
little story called "The Hacker". At the end of part 2, it said
To
be continued... but I couldn't find Darling44's Part 3. I am stepping up
to give this ending a try...
Everyone started
throwing objects at NB. Turkey, mud, snowballs, and even a random kiss.
The bride ran up to NB. "HOW COULD YOU???" she screamed. NB quickly
exited. He had a very bad feeling in his stomach.
Later that
night, NB couldn't sleep. So he crept downstairs and logged onto
Whyville. He clicked on his Y-mail and gasped. His inbox was brimming
with mail!! It would have appeared he was really popular, except they
all had titles like "I HATE YOU" and "HOW COULD YOU?!?!" Great. He was
already on City Hall's bad side, and now he was on everyone else's bad side, too.
Suddenly, near the bottom of his box, NB saw a Y-mail with a different
title. "Sorry," it read. It was from X.
The Y-mail explained that X was going through rough times in real life, and he was
sorry for taking it out on NB. He stated that he could fix everything
if NB only gave him his password. Being a trusting sort of person, NB
agreed.
The next day, NB
happily logged on to Whyville. But no matter how many times he tried,
he couldn't get into his account. X had scammed him.
That day, NB
made a new account. The screenname was nomoreX. After raising his
salary, and waiting the 5 days before he could communicate on Whyville, NB
Y-Mailed the bride, asking for her help getting X banished. She agreed, although
she didn't know that he
was
really NB.
She met nomoreX at the bazaar, and he pointed out X. The
bride went up to him, and whispered hi. Soon, X did the exact same
thing he had done to NB (aka nomoreX). A City Worker came over angrily.
The bride quickly explained that X was doing this. The city worker
agreed to give it a test. She removed her beanie, and found X in another room. He did
the same thing to her. The City Worker then quickly banished X.
The bride turned
to nomoreX. "I know who you are now, NB" she said. NB nodded. "I'm so
sorry," she whispered, and hugged NB.
PLEASE
NOTE:
This story is incorrectly titled. X did not illegally gain access to
Whyville's servers, a la hacking. Instead, he deceived NB into giving him his
password, so he scammed him. The title should be "The Scammer" instead.
Editor's Note: Actually, Darling44 did write a
third installment, but there wasn't an ending. Perhaps this fits into the
series after all....
