Get Accepted

Since the production costs at Akbar's have sky rocketed in recent weeks, between higher restock clams and Akbar's newly instated "no refund policy", I felt it was about time someone laid out what does and doesn't get accepted. And so here I am. If you're serious about designing, but don't have clams to waste, then this is exactly the article for you!

First off, Akbar does not accept copyrighted materials. This includes band names, songs, clothing companies and any type of copyrighted food brand. Try not to name your parts after your favorite band or singer, or use lyrics from your favorite song. I doubt a shirt that has Coca-Cola written across the front would get accepted either. Make sure your designs are original! Having trouble thinking of a name? Open your dictionary to a random page and use the first (appropriate) word you see.

Don't design shirts that are too low cut, show your stomach or are generally just too revealing. Did you know that if you get reported for showing your stomach, there is a punishment? If no one is allowed to wear your part, then Akbar can't accept it. Another rule in this category is that you shouldn't make "cover up", or parts that you can use to make a stomach (or more). This also means that you have to draw an outline around hands so that they can't be used as cover up.

I know this sounds crazy, but don't draw individual letters or numbers. I have a friend who tried to make a "16", but it wasn't accepted. If you want a sign that says something, make sure you use complete words. Also, the same friend of mine made a sign in French. It was rejected because Akbar doesn't understand French (although I'm sure Grenouille or Mimi could have helped him out if he had asked!). If you're going to make a sign in another language, make sure you explain what it means (in the title) or stick to using English words.

My number one rule of thumb is think about it before you draw it. If it's not appropriate for Whyville, then it will get rejected. Use your head and don't include discriminatory sayings, or symbols that imply derogatory things.

Apart from what is and isn't appropriate, there are a couple of other things you should try. Try signing out and signing in to Whyville right before you design, so that you don't get timed out. If you do get timed out, your part may not be accepted and you will have lost the clams! I also suggest starting out with smaller, simpler designs and working your way up. Smaller parts cost less, so if they don't turn out perfect, your loss won't be as big!
