Heads up everyone!! I am writing the times today to clear up a few myths about meat eating. I have noticed some incorrect statements
about livestock lifestyles and I will try to correct them.

I live in the Midwestern USA, where eating meat is like brushing your teeth; it is that common. You can't leave my town with out seeing a herd of cows. My dad also works for a meat processing plant. In my lifestyle and environment you witness what really happens to animals.

I once looked into becoming a vegetarian. I thought that the animals lead unhappy lives with a terrible end when I was younger. This is not true at all. I asked my dad what really happens to them. Contrary to popular belief, It is against the law to make the animal suffer. Therefore it must be done as painlessly as possible. Most livestock are raised to keep the pastures fertilized and the grass low. A good portion of my friends even have cows as pets to show at fairs. Cows and pigs live in wide open spaces, not small pens. All of my friends clean their barns to make sure the animals have a clean sleeping area.

Some people believe that animals are fed with roadkill and just grain. To make sure they are healthy, they have a food similar to dog food. Something that piqued my interest was Mikay37's statement of "It's meat! The dead flesh of something once living, euwww! (Sorry!) It disturbs me, though you may be fine with it. Also, a lot of processed meats like hamburgers and hot dogs could have (don't mean to totally gross you out) animal "guts" in them." Actually a plant is dead when you eat it too.The USDA does not allow animal organs to be in consumable food with out a warning. Therefore you can rest assured that liver will not be in a hotdog legally.

You may feel that I am a cruel person because I eat meat, but I don't believe in killing animals for fashion. You can Y-mail me all you want about this subject, I may respond. I hope this article enlightened you to the meaty truth.

Meat...It's what Minty0323 is having for dinner

Editor's Note: I strongly encourage you to steel yourself for a really gross, pretty mature read, and tackle "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser.  Just because something's illegal doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
