The Whyville Times is great. It shows the views of Whyville citizens on various
topics, and the Whyville Staff gets to tell Whyville citizens what's happening.
But it seems that the Times is getting a little -- well -- repetitive. Let me
elaborate....
I've been on Whyville for about 8 months and I've read the Times since I
started. I've read unique articles such as "Hair Loss" (Sugaz) and "Green Tea" (HYPERyitz),
but I have also read tons of articles on the same topic! After reading 5 (or
more!) articles about how Whyville is separated into cliques and how beauty
contests "are taking control of Whyville," it gets a little dull. I'm not saying
that the authors of these pieces aren't talented, but instead, try using your
writing gifts in other, more unique, ways.
Instead of writing articles about common topics, try writing one about the
following:
-
A review (book, movie, CD, etc.)
-
A favorite instrument and why you like it
-
Facts about ____ (When writing this kind of article, put it in your own
words instead of just copying things off the internet. Re-writing
sentences doesn't count for that!)
-
Something that really interests you (biology, math, whatever your passion
is!)
-
A sport
-
ANYTHING unique!
Have fun being creative!
