Ahh, the new school supply smell fills the air at local department stores, while
kids gear up for the school year as it gets closer by the second. This is FlyGurl89
here, reminding you of what you have or had in store once you start to grow up.
Summer is the season of changing -- well, spring and fall actually are, if you think
about your surroundings -- but in summer, you yourself change, and you become a
better-grown person. That is one of the reasons schools give summer time off, you
know.
I sit here in my summer job, babysitting. Ugh, yes, the wonderful career of
babysitting, but hey, the pay's good and the kids are precious, and no, I don't mean
they have baby goats I have to watch. But while the 2 tots color and watch the
hit children's TV show "Dragona Tales," I escape to the computer for a little
break. Although I do have to get up from the computer every 5
minutes or so, I manage to type down all my thoughts.
I'm in their dining room where their one personal computer sits on a little desk made of dark, pretty wood. I try not to spill my banana
bread on it. When I look around, I notice normal family's things: Some toys stacked
up in the nearby living room from the oldest girl's birthday; the sound of the
TV; a family room where the kids are; table and chairs behind
me in the dining room, along with a china plate cabinet. But as I bring my head
to the right, I not only see the smallest 2 year old I'm watching, but a table
with alcohol on it.
Of course, responsible adults are fully allowed to have an occasional glass of wine
or something else at a party as long as they're in control and aware of what and
how much there drinking; But when do you know you're going too far?
Studies show that the less you weigh, the less you should drink and vice versa.
You should know how your own body reacts to different alcohols and drinks. If
you were to drink 5 beers and other things and you weighed 90-120 pounds, then
you'd end up very drunk.
Watching what you drink is very important because of alcohol's side
effects. Once you're drunk, you can throw up and spit, you'll
stutter words and stop making sense... things you don't want people to know will come out
and you'll act stupid. But those are only miner effects. If you decide to drive,
your vision wont be as good, and your reaction time will be slowed, so your
chances of crashing and killing
yourself and others go way up.
It's not like you're always able to avoid alcohol. It's at parties, clubs, even
friends' houses. It seems that someone somewhere, anywhere you go will always want to drink, and it's
up to you to pass it down until you're 21, and then, once you drink, it's your
responsibility to watch what you're doing. No one wants you dead, and being aware
of your actions and when you are and aren't in control is one way
you're able to stay alive.
So just watch it, and if you do decide to drink, be easy, don't drink too much.
This has been FlyGurl89, reminding you to be responsible with your actions.
