Well, I hope you're all happy. I'm not. Has anyone ever stopped to think about the
world, and how much damage we are doing to it?
We only get one earth, one moon, one solar system, to ourselves. SO WHAT ARE WE
DOING?! We are not caring. We are selfish, abusive human beings, and I hope
you're all happy. Every time you throw away a piece of rubbish, it gets
blown around, may land in a creek, or down a drain, may land in someone's
backyard. Let's take the drain idea...
Just imagine, you are walking home from school, just a little hungry, when you
remember you have a packet of chips in your bag. So you drop your bag onto the
ground, unzip it, rummage around until you find the packet of chips. You
swing your bag back over your shoulder, and tear open the bag of chips.
Naturally you eat all of them, and chuck the empty chip packet on the ground,
and keep on walking...Little did you know that that chip packet will find its way to a drain.
When the chip packet reaches the drain, it goes down... Soon it reaches the
ocean. Ahh yes, the beautiful greeny blue ocean. Such a shame, your chip
packet found its way around the head of a turtle, the turtle was strangled, and died.
Every day someone somewhere dies. People die because of pollution, at least one
person per day. In France this summer, over 15,000 people died because of
global warming, it was just too hot. This is what we get. And of course, what
goes around comes around. Global warming occurs when the overall temperature
of the whole planet increases, usually because of pollution. It's caused by a build-up of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
Carbon dioxide is released when
something is burnt, eg. petrol or fossil fuels such as wood, coal, etc.
You can help too; every little thing counts. Global warming + pollution =
Death. Think of where you stand in the world, and where the world places
you to stand. -SallyBabe
Editor's Note: While I agree with you about
how we must take care of our environment, I've never heard of people dying
because of global warming. Where did you get your statistics about those
deaths in France?
