How many of you have honestly heard of the tiny country of Denmark? My guess is very few. I myself am half Danish -- my mother grew up there as a kid.

Denmark is a country north of Germany, a quick 20 minute boat ride away form Sweden. Denmark has very few people; in fact, it has as many people in the whole country as the city of Los Angeles. Before Greenland (the largest island in the world) became its own country, it was part of Denmark.

I have gone to Denmark many times in my life and it is extremely beautiful there. It is made up of farmland, forests, housing areas and towns. Copenhagen, the capitol of Denmark, is only an hour train ride from my grandparents' home, so we go there a lot. And yes, many Danes do not drive cars, but take trains around the whole country instead.

In Copenhagen there are shops, restaurants, people, and all sorts of stuff -- you would never imagine that there were so few people.

The forests of Denmark are beautiful. Green trees, animals, lakes and berries you can eat straight off the plant! My favorite are the colored slugs... yes, colored slugs. Black, grey, orange, red -- it is amazing! The berries (strawberries and raspberries) are like nothing you have ever tasted before! They are super sweet and you can eat them straight off the plant (just watch for worms!).

So, the next time someone asks you about Denmark, instead of What mark? or Den what? you will know exactly what they are talking about.

Signing out,
