In every country, every year, every day someone uses CPR on a person
to save a life. Do you know how to do this? If you answered no, then watch out,
because I'll help you figure it out.

CPR (also known as cardio pulmonary resuscitation) is very useful for the home,
office, and even the schoolyard for anyone who has the slightest amount of medical
training.

CPR Basics

CPR is a first-aid technique used while highly-skilled medical help is on the
way. CPR helps victims of cardio pulmonary arrest (among other things) stay alive and to prevent
brain damage. CPR mainly has two goals.....

1. To keep the blood flowing throughout the body.
2. To keep air flowing in and out of the lungs.

CPR is a easy technique that requires no or little equipment. What you basically do is:

* Blow with force into the victim's mouth to push oxygenated air into the
victim's lungs. Doing so allows oxygen to diffuse through the lining of the
lungs into the bloodstream -- aka, breathe into the person's mouth pretty
hard, so that air with oxygen can get to their lungs.
* Compress the victim's chest to artificially re-create blood flow -- aka,
push down on their chest in rhythm to get blood and air moving in the body.

The only catch is that CPR has to be performed in a specific, timed sequence to
accurately mimic your body's natural breathing pattern and the way your heart
pumps. If you would like to learn more and do the technique properly, then
contact your Red Cross association near you to find out detailed information and
maybe take a course to help you succeed.

I hope you learned more about this life-saving movement and where to go to learn
how to do
what's necessary.

Breathe in and out,
