...Whyville as we knew it!
Hey everyone! This is Alicia, coming to you again after quite a while with a new
article and a few more pictures. First, though, I'd like to wish Whyville a Happy
Fifth Birthday!!! Above is a picture of how Whyville looked a little under a year
after it first opened. Who knew Whyville would grow to be a place so big and
popular? I know I didn't! It's amazing!
When I think of Whyville, what comes to mind? Wow. Lots of fun times, learning
things I never knew related to science, making new friends... I've had such a
history with Whyville and I never wanna give it up. It's been a while since I've
been on, but now I've rediscovered what I've been missing and am glad to be coming
back on more often!
Whyville is even getting its own mall!! Isn't that so awesome? LOL, all-rightey.
I've been walking around Whyville, searching for some people interested in
answering a few questions about Whyville. I will first list my questions and then
the answers for each person.First I had a nice chat with Spunky82.
(I wasn't quite sure just what I wanted
to ask yet, but later on I found a series of questions for the rest.)
Question 1. When you think of Whyville, what comes to mind?
Spunky82 (a member since November 6, 2003): A cool
place to chat and hang out with buds and make new buds.
Question 2. When you joined Whyville, what was it like? Was it a good
experience?
Spunky82: I liked it, and yes, it was a good experience!
My List of Questions:
1. Why did you decide to join Whyville and how did you find out about it?
2. When you joined Whyville was it a good experience for you and did you enjoy
what you were seeing?
3. When you think of Whyville what comes to mind? ex. making friends, learning
4. Do you think that in the years to come Whyville will continue to grow and be
more successful?
313pw's answers (she has been a member since December 13, 2003):
1. I heard about Whyville from a magazine called GL (girl's life) it said that
it was very educational so I decided to give it a try.
2. When I first joined Whyville, I thought it was ok But I couldn't chat but when I
was able to chat I had a lot of fun and Whyville became more fun
3. Definitely making new friends because now that I can talk I've made like 50 or
more friends and in my address book I have 40 friends.
4. It will definitely be successful if more people know about it.
Infinite's answers (he has been a member since November 16, 2000):
1. Well, I joined because I was bored and I had nothing else to do. I found out
about it from my friend a long time ago.
2. Yeah, I enjoyed it back when I first joined. There wasn't so much negative
attitude towards newbies.
3. Well, Whyville was meant to be a place to learn. But most people are just
using it for a chat to find internet relationships and become obsessed with
clams. So the first thing is meeting new people.
4. Yes.
Iulabaap1's answers:
1. My friend told me about it -- she said it was cool.
2. Yea, it was really cool.
3. Having a fun time, meeting people.
4. Yes, I think Whyville will be more successful!
Thank you guys for taking the time to answer my questions.
Here I have a picture of my friend Infinite and I -- we've been around Whyville
for quite awhile now! We went to scope out the new places, like the
checkers room. Of course, this picture was taken in one of the older places in
Whyville: good Ol' Dr. Leila's House.
Well everyone, I'm out! Enjoy your stay at Whyville and may you all have share
the world!! The newcomers our are new generation -- they are the one helping
Whyville grow and become what it is today and will be in the future!
Thank you to City Hall and all the Y-Workers who have helped form Whyville to
this wonderful place we love.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WHYVILLE!! YOU'RE FINALLY FIVE!!!!
-Signing out, this is... Alicia
