Every plant needs energy
No matter if its tiny or tall
But sunlight that the plant receives
Provides enough energy for all

In order to get this energy
Plants perform photosynthesis
Carbon dioxide and water
Are used in the process

Plants have green chloroplasts
That are able to capture sunlight
And then turn it into energy
In a form that is just right

First there are the light reactions
Where light energy is stored in
Easy forms like NADPH and ATP
And they also produce oxygen

And last are the dark reactions
Where the energy is stored
In glucose, which is able to hold
Up to 100 times more
