What would you do if you had only 35 years of life? How can one man compose 600 pieces of the most passionate music ever created? To compose 600 pieces in 35 years would mean that you created a masterpiece of music every 21 days, on average.

This man I'm sure you've heard of before. His music is recognizable from just the first few notes. Although he was only on this earth for 35 years, he is still the most remembered and renowned musician of all time.

A child prodigy at age 4, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart became concertmaster to the archbishop of Salzburg when he grew up. In 1781 he moved to Vienna. He became court composer to King Joseph II in 1787. He set The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni to music. His most famous song was Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. Mozart continued to produce 50 symphonies, 20 operas, 30 piano concertos, 27 string quartets and 40 violin sonatas.

Mozart passionately worked on his masterpieces throughout his life. He had met many influential people in his time including Haydn, Johann
Christian Bach and many more.

A wonderful movie to see that shows so much of who Mozart was -- or at least, might have been -- is "Amadeus". The movie, although somewhat historically incorrect, is absolutely magnificent. You see who this man is through the eyes of Antonio Saliere, which the movie and play describe as his rival, though the men were friendly in real life.

My most favorite of Mozart's work is "Ave Verum Corpus", "Laudate Dominum", "Contradanse in C major"; Piano Concerto No.9 (Jeunehomme); and the ever-popular Piano concerto k.466 2nd movement (Romanza).

On his deathbed, Mozart left his last piece incomplete.

I would of course give you more information on this passionate genius, but I am afraid I, too, would be completing his biography on my deathbed. I think it is best to let curiosity settle in and go experience his absolutely profound music.
