Hey guys, this is hottiemb with a help article for the many new citizens that
just joined! =)
Well, I was going to write an article on the senator debate but the Times
already seemed to have many articles on that topic, so I decided to write some
commonly asked questions that many citizens are pondering over -- you can never
have too many of these kind of articles!
So, here they are:
1) Why is there a waiting room in Whyville?
There is a waiting room in Whyville because so many citizens come on every day.
If there wasn't a waiting room in Whyville, the Whyville servers might crash
because of the overload of people all coming at one time.
2) How do I add someone to my address book so that I can send them messages?
First of all, you must send that person a message. Start by going to city
records and typing in their name. After you type their name in, a picture of the
person should come up. Click on their face and the tool should let you write
them a message. After you are done y-mailing them, there is a tiny box above
your subject heading that says "add recipient to address book". If you want the
person to be in your address book, you must check that box and then send the
message. Editor's Note: I believe you don't have to write a
message -- if you send a blank one with the box checkmarked, the person is added
without a Y-mail being sent. Correct me in the BBS if I'm wrong.
3) How do I make my face or pick my nose?
To pick your nose, you will need a head and some face parts. If you already have
at least a head, all you have to do is click the head that is on your bus menu
on the left margin. This person should look like they are sitting in the bus. If
you do not have a head, however, you will not be able to make your face.
4) How do I get face parts if I don't have any clams?
If you don't have any clams, you obviously can't buy face parts. The only other
official way to get parts is to go to Grandma's. To get there, you can select
Grandma's on your bus menu. When you are there, Grandma should give you some
parts, as long as you're a new citizen. If she has she has run out of parts for
you, then that means she is all out and you have to check back later. You can
also now trade face parts at the new mall, too!
5) How do I donate parts to Grandma's?
To donate parts to Grandma, you can either go to her house and leave them in the
bin, or you can go to your backpack and select face parts. Then, under all of
your face parts, there should be a button that says 'donate'. All you have to do
is click donate on the parts you would like to donate.
6) What is the 911 Report tool?
The 911 Report tool is a tool that was made for people who are VERY bad. The 911
tool is to be used only if someone asks you for your real last name, address,
phone number or password. It can also be used if someone wants your e-mail
address or anything harmful that can be used against you. You should not,
however, use this tool to get back at someone for calling you ugly or throwing
projectiles at you. This is a very serious tool and can get somebody banished
from Whyville. If you do decide to get back at someone for something that is not
serious, then you could get in big trouble yourself.
7) Can a City Worker see what I whisper?
Yes, City Workers can see everything you say, whether it's a whisper or not a
whisper. You can also always tell whether a person is a City Worker by the city
worker beanie hat -- it's red, with a yellow "CW" on it and a beanie propeller
on the top. All City Workers wear the beanie all the time.
8) I want to be a City Worker and help out Whyville! How do I apply?
Well, I have bad news and good news. The bad news is, you can't be a City
Worker. City Workers are adults who work for Whyville and not just average
citizens. You can't apply to be a City Worker, but if you really want to help
Whyville, you should consider being a Y-Mail Helper. You can do this by
selecting 'Y-Mail Helper' from your bus menu.
9) What is the worst thing I can do on Whyville?
The worst thing you can do on Whyville (or anywhere on the Internet) is give
somebody your real phone number, address, last name or e-mail address. Even if
somebody seems like a very nice person, they may not be so nice when they arrive
at your back door and try to kidnap you. Now, I know this doesn't usually
happen, but you never know! It's much better to be safe than horribly, terribly
sorry. If you ever suspect anybody is trying to get to know you too well,
vaporize, silence or 911 report them, depending on the case. If the person
just said something that proves their bad intentions, use the 911 report right
away.
I hope I have helped, and thanks for reading my article! =)
This is hottiemb, signing off.
