I recently wrote an article about Club Why being common. I found myself being quite heavily criticized by the Times Editor. Also, reading the discussions about my article, I found some criticism there as well. I did not mean to offend anyone by my article, I was just expressing my newly developed views. I did not think that I would get such (irrelevant) criticism.

I do not recall stating that Oldbies and Veterans should decline from giving newbies help. In fact, I think quite the opposite. I remember very well what it was like to be a newbie. Looking at very well made-up Whyvillians. I would why-mail them, asking for clams and face parts, finding role models to look up to. Of course, this was quite a different time (a time when Club Why was selective). Any time any newbie asks me for ANYTHING, I'll give it to them. Furniture, clams, face parts, projectiles, to live at my house... I even donate tons to Grandma.

I thoroughly encourage everyone to give generously, as I do. Just because I don't like to see Club Why go down the drain and lose meaning and status doesn't mean I hate newbies.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone by saying I thought Club Why should have status.
