The war in Iraq was to get rid of Saddam and end terrorism in that country. We gave Saddam 24 hours to get out of Iraq, but he didn't. We gave him a chance. He didn't care about his people at all.

We thought Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. The President decided to invade Iraq because he cared for our safety. We aren't just gonna wait around until a bomb is coming directly towards the United States. We are gonna act.

In a war people are gonna die, good and bad. That is the reason we have an army to protect America. When they signed up, they knew that there was a chance they could go to war. They knew there was a chance they could die.

It may sound like we are taking over Iraq, but we aren't -- we are just giving them support until they can control their own country. If the U.S. soldiers are being shot at by Iraq people, they aren't gonna just stand there just because Iraq is a smaller country. They are gonna shoot back.

Yes, I know there have been accidents where bombs have gone off and killed innocent Iraq people. You've got to understand there are accidents. America is trying to prevent that. Just think how many lives we have saved because Saddam is out of power. We are helping Iraq, we aren't taking over. We have set up Iraq police forces. We are having people from the American army training the Iraq army, so the Iraq army can defend themselves if they need to. We will be running elections where the people get to decide. It may not be going fast, but it's a start. That's about all I have to say.

Editor's Note: I respect your opinion, Octiwoman, as do all Whyvillians -- that's the Whyville Way, after all.  But so is asking questions, and so I ask you: Is it right to hit someone first because you think they might hit you later?  Especially if they're much smaller and generally weaker than you are?  You might say that's what happened when America first attacked Iraq.  And the same reasons why the U.S. invaded Iraq could be used to justify an attack on North Korea, a country that many experts believe is definitely developing nuclear weapons.  Should the U.S. attack them, or negotiate?  Hussein definitely was a terrible dictator, but there are terrible dictators all over the world -- where do we start, and when does it stop?  I ask these questions not to tell you what you should think, but to see what answers you think we can find.
