Hi everyone! I have another article on designing in the Face Factory. I hope
you my previous article for my tips on the look of your designs. Today I
will be talking about pricing and naming as well as how to grab everyone's
attention.
First off is pricing. This is a tough thing to handle, especially if you have
a very low salary, because you can't make your products at a good price. So,
try to work up your salary -- I did and my salary is now 51! I recommend at
least 35 if you can do it.
Here is a price chart for items that I think will be a good help:
Item Size
|
Cost to Make per Part
|
Smallest (1)
|
2 clams
|
A bit bigger (2)
|
5 clams
|
Medium (3)
|
10 clams
|
Biggest (4)
|
20 clams
|
Now, how should you price it? To make it simple, you should be making at
least 5 clams profit, and up to 25 but I think the average is 15. Also, think
about the quality of your product -- would you wear it yourself? If after you
made it you think it isn't too good, you might want to lower the price.
Names-- they mean a lot but not much at the same time. You don't want to
name it something terrible, but a name won't make your product any better.
Make it something easy to remember so if someone wants to buy it because a
friend told them to buy it, they wouldn't easily forget the name of the
product. Make it short or simple or catchy.
If you think you might want to
design more items you could make a label for yourself. About 7 of my items
have my name in the title, and some of them don't, but it really doesn't
matter.
I managed to interview Charity, one of the most popular designers today.
Q: How do you start designing in the Face Factory?
A: You just save up money and then go create!
Q: What is the most important thing to know when designing?
A: Just that you want to make it original.
Q: Why do you think your designs are so popular?
A: I really don't know.
Q: What do you think is was the best thing you made?
A: This blonde hair [the one she has on].
Q: Why?
A: Because it sold really well and everyone seems to like it.
I hope these two articles helped you, if not y-mail me at Lilly2000 for any
