I decided to write about the war in Iraq. I am in the United States of America,
and I have been against this war ever??since it started. There have been
many people and stories going around saying that President George W. Bush was planning on
getting Saddam Hussein even before 9/11. And what did he even have to do
with 9/11? Didn't this happen because of Osama Bin Laden?
We didn't even
have many countries backing us up when America went into Iraq -- and we still don't. Yes, we did capture
Saddam Hussein who was a dictator from 1979 until 2003. That's great, but where
are all those nuclear weapons that supposedly were there? Did they just
disappear into thin air? I don't think there were any nuclear weapons there from
the start.
All the poor innocent people who got injured or killed -- was this
really necessary? And besides... since a whole big part of the war was because
of 9/11, why didn't we focus on getting Osama Bin Laden instead?

Editor's Note: You have some excellent points about Saddam not
being connected to the tragic events of 9/11, backseat.?? Separate from
that, though, it's pretty clear that Saddam was a cruel and deadly dictator.??
He killed and imprisoned his people, tortured his enemies, and thumbed his nose
at international law and policy.?? Should the U.S. have just let him go his
merry, murderous way??? How bad can a ruler be before other countries should
get involved -- and what should they do??? The U.S. started with economic
sanctions -- that means, they refused to buy Iraq's oil and wouldn't sell Iraq's
people any important products, from food to the materials to make cars or
buildings.?? That may or may not have been working, depending on who you
ask.?? What do you think?
