PANDEMIC

6:00 a.m. -- I wake up, curled up in my basket. I walk around the house, meowing, so someone might wake up and feed me. No such luck. I jump onto the couch and have a little nap.

7:00 a.m. -- Finally the mother of the noisy kids wakes up and walks into the kitchen. She opens the pantry door and pulls out the packet of cat biscuits. YUM!!! BREAKFAST!!! I trot happily into the kitchen as she pours some biscuits into my food bowl. I quickly race towards it and start eating hungrily. The father strolls into the kitchen, sits down at the table and starts to read the newspaper. The mother sets down a plate of eggs and bacon on the table. When no one's watching, I snatch a piece and secretly eat it in the laundry.

8:00 a.m. -- The noisy kids run into the kitchen loudly, disturbing my bath. The mother places two plates with toast on them on the table. I continue to lick myself.

9:00 a.m. -- The father leaves for work and the mother takes the kids to school.??

10:00 a.m. -- I hop back into my basket to have a nap.

11:00 a.m.
-- I have finished my nap and travel outside through my cat flap. I jump onto the fence and stare with pity at the stupid, barking dog next door. The dog continues to bark as I crawl through a hole that takes me underneath next door's house.

12:00 p.m.
-- I see a mouse underneath the house, so I catch it and play with it for a while before I eat it.

1:00 p.m.
-- I crawl back out of the house, jump up over the fence and make my way down to the grass near the shed. I sit and bask in the sun for about an hour.

2:00 p.m.
-- I find a shady spot near a bush and sleep for a while.

3:00 p.m.
-- The kids come back home (I can hear them coming), and I rush back through my cat flap and into my basket.

4:00 p.m.
-- The kids have finished their homework and start to watch TV. I sit with them and let them pat me.

5:00 p.m.
-- The mother feeds me my dinner (tuna fish) and then I lick myself.

6:00 p.m.
-- My family eats their dinner while I gaze up at them, looking hopeful.

7:00 p.m.
-- The family watches TV and I get a lot more pats.

8:00 p.m.
-- I hop back into my basket and drift back to sleep. What a hard life for a cat.
