Once a leaf said to its tree, "Let me free, with the wind." The tree told the
leaf to be wary, for he would see many horrid things. But the leaf was firm and
went away with the wind. He was happy and carefree at first, but when he came
upon polluted streets and chopped forests, he yearned for home. So the wind took
him home and upon his arrival he found his tree had been chopped down and taken
away. He was filled with grief and sorrow for the tree that had raised him, and
he floated down to the earth. Soon a new sprout thrust its head from the ground.
When the wind, who had taken pity upon the leaf, blew him near it, he found that
it was a tree like his own, and he was happy.
