A lot of Whyville citizens are running for Senator. At first, I thought that it
would be great!
I had a large variety of choices for who I wanted to be senator. Then I saw
their ideas were bad and they just didn't say why they really were good for
being our senator.
I think that people shouldn't run unless they have their own original ideas and
make sure citizens are happy with them.
After I saw all these senators candidates, I looked at their ideas and
suggestions. Most of their ideas were to extend the mall, get a Whyville bank,
no more waiting for faces to be saved, and also no more expiring parts.
I was shocked and disappointed all at once. Why? Because Whyville citizens have
already suggested these things in petitions that are already winning polls in
the Poll Booth. Why say you'll change things that are already being changed?
Simple; that way, you don't have to change them.
If you're going to run, make sure the idea isn't already being done!
None of these candidates I looked at said they'll listen to our suggestions! I
get at least 5 pieces of mail a day asking me to vote for various people. I
respond to them, "Are you taking OUR suggestions?"
Most of the replies I've gotten say something like, "Oh, I haven't thought of
that but sure, why not?"
Senators and presidents are usually elected because they are "the voice of the
people". They'll listen to our ideas and take them into consideration.
If I were senator, I would listen to people's ideas, make sure it wasn't already
being done, and then ask other citizens what they thought about these ideas. I
think all citizens running for senator should listen to their fellow Whyville
citizens and don't take ideas that are being taken care of.
From your very own Whyville citizen,
