When we get tired or when we've just been sleeping we usually have the tendency to yawn. We yawn when we are bored and just maybe we're yawning right now. In fact, it's very likely that you are yawning right now, maybe you didn't even notice.

Now, just so we're all on the same level...
Yawn -- to take a long deep breath through your mouth, especially when you are tired or bored.

Out of curiosity, try to keep count of how many times you yawn while you read this article about yawning. You may be surprised about how much you'll yawn just thinking about yawning.

Everyone yawns. I yawn, you yawn, animals yawn, even babies yawn before they're born! (That's kinda weird, because they don't even breathe through their lungs yet... hmm....)

We also yawn when we're bored. If you're watching music video clips, you are less likely to yawn then, say, if you were watching a color test bar pattern. A test was carried out showing that people watching the color pattern yawned 5.78 yawns in 30 minutes, whereas the people watching the clips yawned 3.41 yawns in 30 minutes. (Strangely enough, males of any species yawn more and longer then females.)

We yawn when we need more oxygen in our lungs, they say. Well, this theory works well, seeing as when we get tired or bored we breathe more slowly. Yawning along with stretching also increases blood pressure and heart rates. Think about it, yawning is just like stretching, it stretches out your face muscles.

Well, how many times did you yawn during this article?

Swoitypie... *yawns*
