As many Times readers know, there was a recent article written by an unknown
person, titled "What is Fashion?" To me, this is the second-best article I've
ever read on Whyville. (My first was Barbie Girl! :]) I, too, don't know why it
wasn't on the front page. There was a huge fight going on about this in the BBS.
For all of you who didn't get to read the article, here it is:

On Whyville, what is fashion?
Why do people only consider blondes beautiful? In real life I seriously doubt
that all of those people have perfect blonde hair. Does this mean they would
prefer blonde hair?
Whenever I'm in a chat room all I see is clones, trend followers. On and off
Whyville I have brown hair and I am not ashamed. What you're saying if you buy
blonde hair and you don't have blonde hair is, "Hey I'm a trend-following
monkey." I mean, seriously. And if you say guys will only date blonde girls,
then it makes no difference at that.
Think.
Editor's Note: I sure hope that not everyone who chooses blonde hair must be
a monkey! :-) Sure, there are millions of different colors to choose from, but
there are also millions of people, all with our own tastes. Although, perhaps it
is a little strange to walk into Whyville and sometimes be awash with the color
'blonde'... *shrug*. What do other citizens think about hair choices? Let's have
a civilized discussion in the BBS here, because I'm sure we can learn a lot if
we get to the crux of why being blonde can be so popular at times!
OK! Now that you've read the article and what the Editor thinks, shall we look
at some of the BBSes? We shall!
OK, I wrote this one, which I called CLONES, and I'm not so proud *blushes*:
lets face what we already know, blondes are clones. lifeless, tend-following,
jerks in my view. I'm OK if u buy blonde hair and have blonde hair in r/l but I
mean.... CLONES & hun, i aint talking about the ones in my books that r trying
to save the world from the other clones! (the books sound really bad, but there
good! Replica if anyone wants to know.. lol) I have brown hair on Whyville & i
have it in rl, & im proud! i wont fall under these dumb fashion trends! i,
personaly, pity anyone who's dumb enough to find this artical offencive! WELL, i
totaly envie whoever wrote this! i was just going to do something like it! ur

I get that I have no right to say what I said, but I like it when people know
what i think. Kamyward wrote this and she had a good point:
The only clone I see, is you, you're just like the author. To judge someone
by the color of their hair is not only rude, it's discriminatory. In fact, you
probably are the author, for all we know. I suggest you read my post further
down in the BBS. Maybe it will enlighten you.
It's clear to me, kimyward had a great point!

k, there is no need to discriminate against someone because of their hair
color. Just because many people have blonde hair, doesn't mean they are "jerks",
in your words. I happen to have blond(ish) hair in r/l, and i like it, so pish
posh on you.lol.

i am brunette in real life but i dyed my hair blone and i have black hair on
Whyville, i dont get it wtf is wrong with you? who cares what sort of color your
hair is? i sure as bobba dont give a care!urgh that made me really mad to see

well, im SO not saying that u should look like u do on Whyville as u do in rl,
what im saying is that u shouldnt change urself just becuase its 'in'
in my point of veiw, if u have red hair & gray eyes ur way more purdy than a
bonde (no offence) but its not like ppl would change from blonde to red just for
me! & im ok with that!

One person in my BBS really made me jump! Saahy made me really think about what
i was writing.
Hmm, I am not completely following this, but from what I have read, nene
seems quite the hypocrite. Nene, you say that if you don't have blonde hair in
real life, you shouldn't have it on Whyville. Then you say that YOU yourself
have different hair on Whyville than in real life. Maybe I am mistaken, but this
doesn't seem to be a convincing argument....:S

yes, i dont think ppl on... well what u said to make it shorter. & yes im a
hypacrit. & no i have the same color hair in rl as i do in rl. & yes i know i
spelt hypacrit wrong :]
i know im being kind of confusing by saying what i am, but its my life & this is
how i feel about it.
ive even tried to sue some of the hair dying companys & stuff.
im just glad that my post got a reaction. as u all can now see, when i think
something i say it, so dont be looking for me to be too... *looks for word*

So You are calling me a jerk?!?!? you are so mean! every single color in my
hair is natural, i have blonde streaks red streaks and browns streaks, my hair
used to be all blonde, but it darkened so i dyed my hair blonde, the way it used
to be, but the dye has grown out and i only have blonde streaks, and i wear
blonde hair in Whyville, SO YOU ARE CALLING ME A JERK!?!?

If you wanted to read some of the best entries, you just have to read the whole
BBS. These were just in the BBS I started, 'CLONES'.
