Hi, this is kalei. I am a major fan of cats and have three. But when you keep them inside, there are many household dangers. These are the three I have had the most experience with:

1. Threads can cause a major problem for cats. They look like something fun to chase, so the cat bites it. If the kitty swallows the string, it can cut its intestines or stomach. The string might also not go down all the way, choking the cat. So make sure to keep your cat away from loose threads and always pick them up and throw them away.

2. Poisonous plants can also be a nuisance. While they might not kill your cat or make it ill, they can cause your cat to throw up and leave lovely little 'presents' around the house for you to clean up. They are almost as nice as the half-eaten mouse on your doorstep. Some common poisonous plants are: philodendron, dumb cane, shamrock, croton, amaryllis, poinsettia, oleander, foxglove, mistletoe, azalea, privet, larkspur, holly, yew, baby's breath, buttercups, rhubarb, aloe Vera, tomato plants, lily of the valley, iris, sweet pea, primrose, wisteria, honeysuckle, string of pearls and kalanchoe.?? This list definitely doesn't include all poisonous plants, so be careful!

3. Rat poison can be deadly to cats. Also, when a cat eats a poisoned rat or mouse they can suffer from relay toxicosis. Rat poison causes internal bleeding and death. To prevent this use live traps.

Just as a word of warning, keep your cats out of your garage! Most of the things most people keep in there can harm cats. Cleaners, antifreeze, mothball vapors and varnish are just a few that can be harmful.

Please keep your cats safe and happy by keeping them away from the dangers within your home.?? Thanks!
