I used to think the shower cried
The faucet gushed tears of sadness
The toilet bowl had tantrums and
The tap streamed of madness

I used to think my radio had
Four little musicians inside it
And my lights held all day long
Three tiny lightnin' bugs that lit it

I used to think dogs could talk
And communicate with them, I could
And someday I would chat with a cat
And believe me, I knew I would!

I used to believe in wonderful things
But then horrid reality came
It told me to stop being me
And start being someone with shame

I refused, I just couldn't do it
I won't be just like you
I will stand up for myself and all the others
Who want to be different, too.
