Hello Whyvillians,
Citizen Deriko, reporting to you with news of Whyville's first
checkers tournament. In case you haven't heard, I hosted this checkers
tournament in order to bring more activeness to Whyville citizens. I sent
invitations to citizens on my address list, and posted an invitation to all in
my city records.
The tournament concluded just recently, and I want to thank each and every
citizen who has participated in making this a great experience for Whyville.
Thanks goes out to: whybme, silly5o3, mi22, darknsoul, pepsi878, osirez60, rebok,
lawyer14, riku123, actingup9, gumbytam, neutrel, softbll12, rogers023, alan18,
angel8493, sonner, breaker22, reg987123, chilly321, kirbie393, deriko, savvvy,
greenegg, flames9, cutiekenz, kt98, xxdeucexx, and neutral.
Each one of them played spectacularly, trying to advance to the final round. The
fifth and final round, the grand finale, consisted of xXDeUcEXx and City Worker
neutral.
xXDeUcEXx had progressed to the final round after defeating kt98 in the
semi-final round. Neutral progressed from round 1 to the final round after
playing several marvelous matches, including a match with the current Senator
Sonner.
In the final round, neutral emerged victorious against xXDeUcEXx in a 3-game
match. Neutral was awarded 2 game points, and was declared the Winner of the
First Whyville Checkers Tournament sponsored by citizens.
Congratulations to neutral (who also happens to be a very good chess player as
well).
The bronze medal prize goes to kt98, who lost to xXDeUcEXx in the semi-final
round. The silver medal prize goes to xXDeUcEXx. And of course, the gold medal
prize goes out to neutral, who was victorious in the checkers tournament.
Perhaps I will hold another checkers tournament in the future. If I choose to do
so, I will announce the tournament in the Whyville Times, and maybe even be able
to make it an even larger event. Be on the lookout for possible mancala, Chinese
checkers, and tic-tac-toe tournaments as well!
I hope each and every citizen enjoyed this tournament as much as I did. Thanks
again for participating!
Citizen Deriko, signing off.
