When I first heard we could travel to other planets, I thought, "What does that mean? I can't be on other planets, it is impossible! I am too young. NASA won't let me into space!"
I changed my mind when I got this y-mail:
Singles' party on mars today at 5:15 Whyville time. To get to mars say teleport
mars. There will be peeps to meet if u r not single srry but pass this on to 3
of Ur friend's pleeze I want this to work.
P.S. or u could just come for fun.
Unfortunately, I arrived too late to come to the party, even though I probably
wouldn't have gone, because those parties are sort of SILLY, don't you think?
But anyway, I just went to the beach, where I was going to type in "teleport
mars", but I thought, "Wait. If this doesn't work, I might look stupid in front of all these
people."
So instead I quickly hit the TAXI button on the bottom of the screen (right
under the chat room picture). There was no one in there, so I thought, "Good,
I won't be humiliated."
I typed in "teleport mars". All of a sudden, I went straight to Mars!
It looks
like the real Mars, except it is just a picture. I thought it was an interesting
chat room.
Then I thought, since I can go to Mars, I can probably go back to
Whyville. I typed in "teleport Whyville", but it didn't work. So I tried "teleport
earth". Sure enough, it brought me straight to Earth. I tried many other planets,
but most said, This destination isn't known.
Then I went
back to the beach while I was in the middle of typing this article. I saw someone
say, "How bout' the planet Saturn. Want to try that one?" So I did.
I think Whyville's City Workers and City Hall created this because we need to expand Whyville
or our BRAINS (so we may decide to research the planets OR SOMETHING), or maybe it was
created because of a
petition. Well who knows? The ONLY one: City Hall, I think.
Well, this question is
still out there, floating around space... though we may find out soon enough.
