They finally have definitions! Much thanks goes to http://www.urbandictionary.com, where we can find definitions for nearly any word you've ever heard, made up, or seen (even on MSN Messenger or AIM). Ever wanted to know the definitions of those supposedly meaningless words you see in chat and other places? Well, now you can.

woot (more commonly spelled w00t): 1. Stems from 80's hacker lingo. When a hacker 'rooted' (got root access to) a 'box' (a computer hooked up to the internet) he would exclaim "woot." (I have root.)" Later use spread to the hacker's lesser brethren, the gamer, and most hackers no longer use the term. (Author's Note:  April 25th is the Official Unofficial 'W00t w00t! I feel spical! LoL!' day)

2. To emphasize something, be happy. Woot, I aced my math test!

3. The Canadian way to say "what". Woot was that? I saw it scurry aboot that way.

4. A Middle English word meaning "know" or "knew." Verrily, Sir Nag. I woot his uncle, Barnabas.

5. Woot is a word used to express the sound made in many dance/techno tracks. You know, the synthy sound effect - woot woot! utz utz utz utz - woot woot! - utz utz utz utz

All rightee -- there's a TON more definitions, but I had to find out what some of the words in the definitions I saw meant, such as 'pwned' or 'boxen'.

Boxen: 1. Alternate plural form of the singular noun "box," as opposed to the correct "boxes," made famous by comedian Brian Reagan.

TeacHer: Brian, what's the plural of "ox?"
Brian: Duh....I dunno
T: No Brian, it's "oxen." Now Brian, what's the plural of "box?"
B: Uh... "boxen," as in I bought two "boxen" of doughnuts.

Well. That was... interesting. Now for pwned, which I saw three times and have no clue how to even begin to pronounce.

Pwned: 1. A corruption of the word "Owned." This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, "so-and-so has been owned." Instead, it said, "so-and-so has been pwned." It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force. That team totally pwned us.

Now on to some words most of us have heard, and have understood what they mean, but we've been unable to put their definitions into words for someone else. (Author's Note: WARNING: Most of these will be 'Canadian-isms,' or at least words that my friends and I use. I do not mean to offend anyone. I'm just having fun. I am Canadian myself.)

Confuzzled: A combination of "confused" and "puzzled" with the same meaning as both words. If said confidently enough, people tend to either not notice it, or consider it a real word. The math problem with the quadratic formula had me really confuzzled, especially because it was on an English test.

Hoser: 1. Canadian term popularized by the McKenzie brothers, referring to someone clumsy or stupid who drinks beer excessively. You hoser, eh!

Eh: 1. You can't describe "eh" -- it can mean so much... it can even be a sentence of its own.

Person 1: Eh?
Person 2: Sure, I'll take four.
 - or -
Person 1: **mutters something intelligible** mimblewimble...
Person 2: Eh?

Aboot (this one is my own definition): 1. It's fun to say and fun to type. People get caught off guard and start to laugh. If you say it in real life, anyone within earshot, more often than not, will burst into laughter. Plus, the only expression ever invented that's so fun to say that you want to tell someone else to say it so you can share a laugh is, 'What are you talking aboot?'

I'd write out some more, but I'm out of time; I'm off to the first CFL home game of the year! =) Wish us luck!
