Hey 'tis me, mInGeR, once again. Except this time I'm not so happy. I've been really stupid. I should have read the warnings when I signed in every day.

I'll tell you something: Never give out personal information, like your login name for chat programs and email outside of Whyville. Take it from me, it's not worth it. The other day I met a girl. We talked and she seemed very polite and asked me for my MSN. Thinking this was an extension of our friendship, I decided to give her my "addy."

We talked a while on MSN, and then suddenly I was signed out. I thought it was a network problem, as it's happened to me before, so as usual I disconnected, connected, and tried to sign in, and... WHAT'S THIS?? WRONG PASSWORD?!?!?

I thought my friend was playing a trick on me, so I went on my other account, but she was online as well. I asked her for my password back, but she said she didn't know it. So I talked to the person who was on my account -- it turned out she was the girl I had just met in Whyville. She found out the answer to my secret question on MSN and had found out my password!!

She said she wanted my account on Whyville, as I have quite a few clams, but I wouldn't give it to her. My friend and I started to panic, because she could pinch all my clams by sending the password to my email address, because she had control of it!

She eventually gave me my password back. But later on, I got some emails from Whyville that showed my passwords for all of my accounts.

I was lucky, really lucky, but you might not be... well, I thought I was lucky. Then I went away this weekend, and when I came back, all the clams from one of my best accounts were gone (I had had over 5,000!) and so were my best face parts! She stole my account, plus lots of clams plus my expensive face parts.

Never give out your personal information on the internet and never let someone trick you into giving them your AIM "addys". My password was a ridiculously easy one -- Whyville. (Don't worry, I've changed it now, Times Editor!) So that's probably how she got onto my MSN. So make sure your password is a hard one (although not one you'll forget, of course!).

So be careful and beware!!!

Reporting for Whyville on my own personal views,
mInGeR
