I don't know if any of you have noticed that the Newbie Center is finally open,
but it is! I visited it, but to my dismay, I noticed that you had to be a Y-Mail
Helper to be able to help newbies there.
I was a bit disappointed, because a
regular old citizen couldn't do a good deed and help out some people new to
Whyville, so I went to see if anyone else felt that way. This is what I came up
with.
Firstly, I asked Blue50 on her opinion of the new Newbie Center.
PinkieHil: So, what do you think of the Newbie Center?
Blue50: It's okay, but no one is ever there to help out the newbies, and the
qualifications are stupid to become a helper. Also, only the helper can answer
any questions in the Center, even if someone else in the room knows the answer.
Nobody can hear you, except for the Y-Mail helper.
PinkieHil: What do you think could be done to make it more helpful?
Blue50: Maybe we could put people on types of shifts and have backups in case
someone could not be there for their shift and closing the center at a certain
time, like 11 p.m. WhyTime.
PinkieHil: Thanks for your help!
Next, I interviewed TickleElmo on her view of the Newbie Center.
PinkieHil: So, what is your opinion of the Newbie Center?
TickleElmo: I personally don't really like it! You can't talk or whisper and you
can't sit on the chair and there is hardly ever a helper to help out.
PinkieHil: What do you think could make it better?
TickleElmo: You should at least be able to talk to people, but maybe not
whispering, and there should always be a helper in there, definitely!
PinkieHil: Okay, thanks a bunch!
Then, trying to find another viewpoint, I talked to SessyMe17, and she had a
totally different view of the Newbie Center.
PinkieHil: What do you think of the Newbie Center?
SessyMe17: Well, I've only been in there once, but I really liked it! There was
a helper in there and he was able to answer my questions. I think it's a really
great idea!
PinkieHil: Would you change anything about it?
SessyMe17: I might have more helpers in there, because I had to wait a while to
sit down, but that's it.
PinkieHil: Thanks a bunch!
Well, you've seen the evidence for yourself -- what is your verdict about the
center? Personally, I think it is basically a good idea, but it does have some
flaws because there isn't always someone to help out. But if you can get your
why-self in there at the right time, it's a very valuable tool!
Signing out,
PinkieHil
