You're sitting there one hot sunny afternoon, sipping on some cold soda and thinking, "This soda isn't hurting me, except maybe making me put on a few pounds, but I'm young. It won't hurt."
Well, if you think that, then you're in for a big shock! I've been studying what's in sodas on the Internet. What I found was terrifying.
There is this ingredient called aspartame that is usually found in diet sodas. It can make you have palpitations (that means your heart beats really fast and strangely), tachycardia (also fast heartbeat), shortness of breath really high blood pressure... and even death. There are many more bad affects of aspartame; too many for me to list here. One website I went on was http://www.sweetpoison.com/aspartame-side-effects.html, which listed all of the troubles you might have.
So, try to cut down on the sodas and just drink chilled water, lemonade or anything without aspartame.
Have a great summer!

Editor's Note: To every story, there's usually at least one more side, if not a whole bunch more. Can you find websites or scientists who say that aspartame *is* safe? Whom do you believe, and why? That's the key -- don't be afraid to question why you believe something.
