As you know, there are many different and unique individuals here on
Whyville, coming from all religions, races and personalities. Today, I was at the
Pool Party, where I noticed a white cartoon face approach a black cartoon face. The
white cartoon, I noticed, was pestering the black by following the black cartoon
all around the room.
Finally, the black cartoon became annoyed and asked the white one, "Why
won't you leave me alone? What is your problem?" and the white cartoon replied,
"Your blackness. I'm with the triple K."
For those of you who do not know, KKK stands for the Ku Klux Klan. KKK members are people who hate people who
are of different races and religions than they are. Since shortly after the
Civil War, they have terrorized people,
vandalizing homes, cars, and many other things, just because their victims are a
different skin color or religion.
I personally know someone who was terrorized
by the KKK because she is Jewish. She is a dance instructor, so they went to her
dance studio and vandalized it, spray painting rude remarks all over the walls.
In my opinion, I think that what these people do is horrible and hurtful. I also think that, sadly, racism will never truly go away.
I think that people will
always hate one another for one thing or another, and I think that that is
horrible.
I don't understand what is wrong with colors or beliefs. I would like
to talk with a member of the KKK personally and get their opinion as to why they
have a problem with it. Maybe one day I will.
But today, I didn't get the chance
to talk to that cartoon, a member of the KKK. I hope that I will run into that
cartoon again one day, and get their opinion. If I do, I will definitely send it
to the Times for you readers to see.
I just thought that this should be brought up, and
that everyone should be aware that, no matter where you go, it seems like you
cannot escape this type of abuse and discrimination.
This is Mckenzie, signing off for now. *click*
Editor's Note: I sure hope no one in Whyville agrees with what the KKK stands for.
